Gifted by nature with an almost photographic perception Martin Engewicht began drawing at the age of three. Collecting motives and artistic items in his mind as well as on
paper for over 30 years enables him to draw almost every thinkable object from memory. Particularily interested in history, mechanics, seafaring, biology, nature and mystical
issues he often combines these subjects in his drawings.
Soft pencils and ink are his favoured working media, although he is always searching for historical techniques and materials and is adept to many different forms of graphical
methods and materials, including metalpoint drawing, oil, gouache, ruddle, gallnut ink, bistre and linocut.
